Purchased this in June, but just received it a few weeks ago; it has never been worn outside the house. I am about to purchase my first gen and I’ve decided to get out of the rep game for awhile. This Fighters Edition Navitimer with 6, 9, 12 layout is sold out everywhere, but of course my amazing TD was able to track one down.
The gen Fighters Edition is the only Navitimer that has a brushed case, not a polished one. From the TD’s factory, they do not brush it like gen and instead send it polished. Also, from the factory, the subdial hands are like every other rep Navitimer and are silver, not black like gen, so I had everything customized.
Instead of brushed I wanted a more toolish look, so I had the case bead blasted, as well as the bracelet and extra deployant. Like gen, the only part that remained polished is the center of the caseback. The hands were painted black to match gen. Unfortunately, the end links that were sent with the bracelet were, I believe, CNC’d poorly, so it is very hard to attach one side. I sacrificed many an end link to attach it. Luckily, my TD being amazing as she is, is sending a replacement bracelet. I am having that bead blasted as well, so you will have the replacement forwarded to you when it’s done (it’s still being shipped from China at this point). I am not charging you for the second bracelet, but you’ll basically have two. I also did not want a flawless looking case, so it was “vintagized” a bit to give it a worn look. The case was scratched a little and then was bead blasted a second time to give it a very faint aesthetic of being loved. Look at the lugs in the fourth photo.
I also wanted a custom canvas strap for the deployant. I had a bestoke canvas strap made which is olive drab in color and came from a European military bag from the 1930s. The $510 is not including the strap which is in the pictures. If you want it I will let it go for $115 extra (it cost me $125 and is unused like the watch). Otherwise, I’ll use it with my gen when I get it, since it will have a 22mm lug width as well.
This took awhile to put together and source, but it unbelievably badass, and you will love it. Other than bead blasted vs brushed, this is pretty identical to gen.
