This is a rare one guys. If you don’t believe me, just check online. I work part time for a watchmaker located in our local Mall. He is a Seiko AD and this is new watch that was put away in the early 2000’s and forgotten. This model has several complications one of which is both fascinating and unusual. At least I’d never heard of it before. It is describe as a Mile Marker function. When the locking ring on the large crown on the left is loosened a thin, knurled outer wheel is exposed. By running this along a proposed route on a map the correct mileage is registered on the inner bezel of the watch. Below is a more detailed description of the watches functions.

A unique and useful watch for outdoor adventurers, on foot or otherwise, the Seiko Mile Marker not only features the ultra accurate Seiko Perpetual Calendar movement, but has a map wheel, that allows you to trace a path on a map and calculate miles from point a to point b. A compass feature allows you to determine direction.. . . . . . . Map Distance feature: . . The left crown (at the nine) can be used to trace distance on a map. Maps using the 1:62500 scale (1 inch - approx 1 mile, used by many USGS topo maps and common road maps) can be read directly. A wallet size card is included to convert other map scales . . . . National Parks Guidebook: . . A pocket size leather-bound guide to US National Parks is included as a gift with purchase . . . . Compass feature: . . Line up the hour hand with the sun, and the GMT hand (set to local 24 hour time) will indicate North. You can then use the rotating compass bezel to establish any heading. . . Solid stainless steel case and bracelet . . Extra hour hand (GMT hand) for time in a 2nd time zone or 24 hour time. . . Perpetual calendar automatically adjusts for odd and even months, including leap years up to February 28, 2100. . . Calendar indicates date and can also indicate month. . . Second hand can indicate number of years since last leap year. . . Highly accurate with a yearly loss/gain rate of less than 20 seconds. . . Extended battery life of approximately 10 years . . Water-tested up to 200 meters. . . Date . . Double-locking-push-button-clasp. . . LumiBrite?? hands and markers. . . Hardlex crystal is scratch-resistant . .

In addition to the extra 24 hour hand the watch also has a quick change hour hand for use in changing the date or in quickly adjusting to a 3rd time zone without effecting the minutes or seconds function. In size the watch measures 42mm in diameter and 14mm in thickness. It is complete with box and all Seiko papers and literature.

We’ve checked and the watch is still eligible for the 3 years from date of purchase Seiko warrantee.
