So I just decide to buy myself a Time Graph as I was having trouble adjusting the Miyota 9015 in my Bronze Zenith Pilot. Turns out I needed a new movement , most of the time it's cheaper to just put in a brand new Swiss or in this case Japanese movement and not waste your time and your watchsmiths time rebuilding a Chinese clone or a low quality movement ( I learned this through experience since 2014 I have had many movements rebuilt or replaced). Just because a dealer says its a new Swiss ETA or New Japanese Miyota doesnt mean its the highest quality you could buy independently off the internet. At least that's my experience/opinion. Below you can see some not so great pictures I have taken recently along with a brief description of what your seeing. One thing I learned is different movements have different lift angles and this needs to be set on your time graph to get an accurate reading.

WARNING DON'T TRUST THE INTERNET, THERE IS SO MUCH BAD INFO OUT THERE ABOUT LIFT ANGLES, ONLY TRUST THE ORIGINAL MANUFACTURER SPEC SHEETS!!!!

Here we have a Swiss ETA 2846 serviced by Strodda, I thought it was low beat but I guess not, lift angle is 50 .

Here we have a new Miyota 9015 just installed by Yodog, I got the movement off ebay, Lift angle is 51 and I just noticed the amplitude is low, should be closer to 270. I have noticed you can put a watch on the Time graph and get some different reading, I'm just learning so be nice. Just put it back on and seeing 230 amp with +1 to +3 s/d

This BP SD has a lot of Genuine goodness and is powered by a Yuki 3135, Built by @Ado213. 52 lift angle

Here we have a TC V6 with a new Swiss 2824 from Startime, I bought the more expensive version of the 2824 at startime and Adrian installed and adjusted it. Switched to 50 lift angle +1 S/D 296 AMP

Here is another BP SD built for me by Adrian, it has new Swiss ETA that Adrian supplied, lift angle 50 degrees and This watch is excellent.

So there is a lot more to learn and I will post it here. Please feel free to post any knowledge or photos, If you have a Time Graph at home lets see some pictures and hear what you have learned

Hi! Nice pictorial and the results are quite good. Learn how to regulate and you’re close to being able to do a few key things to your watches.
The lift angle for 28xx movements is 53
Amplitude is a good indicator of the quality and PR of your movement. Beat error is also quite important and can be adjusted but don’t just attempt it before acquiring some basic knowledge, it has great impact on the performance of your movement.

  • Inadequate amplitude. Amplitude is the swing of the balance wheel past its neutral point. It is a measure of the vigor with which a mechanical watch impulses the "tick tock" action of its escapement.
  • o In general, a healthy watch will feature amplitude in the 270-300 degree range. Rolex, for example, recommends no less than 275 degrees.
  • o However, when the amplitude falls below 250 degrees, this is sub-optimal; a reading below 230 generally compels a full service (overhaul).
  • o Low amplitude usually develops when a watch’s lubricants have lost their volatile components and turned to gum-like paste. Other causes include a tired mainspring and a dirty hairspring caused by clumsy lubrication courtesy of incompetent service attempts. In extreme cases, low amplitude may result from components that are already damaged beyond repair following continuous operation atop aged lubricant.
  • o In time, the amplitude of all deferred-maintenance watches will fall, the timing will suffer, and damage will begin to occur as the mainspring pushes against mounting friction. Eventually, this damage will become catastrophic and stop the watch.
  • o Low amplitude is like a fading heart beat in the emergency room; the “heart” will stop after the beat falls sufficiently, and a watch in need of service eventually stops.

Here is my Noob V6s with GEN insert, Crystal, Hands, Dial, DW, Crown/Tube, Auto Wind Module on a Yuki 3135 built by Misiekped. I see low amplitude with variable S/D errors from 0 to 13 and variable beat error from .2 to 2.4 ms. I do love this watch
