"My" Newman Daytona
It took me a while before I felt like approaching this build. Many obscure details, so many references and so little informations. So many dial variations.
I have to thank @yodog for helping me figure out how to move the faux wheel at 6 in order to install a vietnam dial with correct subdial spacing. I was very doubtful I could have succesfully performed this mod, but somehow I did it
And that's it. Reworked cartel case, Athaya crown and tube, relumed hands and a mesemerizing vietnam dial.
It is quite clear to me that going the best possible route would mean shelling out a lot of money. Nothing is really gen-like in this build: dial inscriptions (Rolex Cosmograph - no red daytona?) might or might not be correct, coronet isn't quite there, hands have too long lume portion and subdial hands are too fat, numbers and letters on the bezel differ from gen, chronograph pushers have the wrong shape, bezel ring is too fat and so on.
But even with all its flaws I see it as a damn fine homage already and I've been enjoying wearing it before sending it to its final owner.
