Offered for sale is this Rolex Submariner 1680 which has a niceley aged vintage look.
I bought this over on RWI about a year ago, The watch was sold as Swiss stated movement but when I received it and opened the caseback it looks like an Asian clone ETA movement so I will sell as such.
The dial has been relumed and shines like a torch as you can see in the pictures and the movement starts right up with a couple of shakes and has a good power reserve when fully wound. The date clicks over at midnight and has the open 9 and 6 numbers on the datewheel. It has a nicely aged look to the handset in keeping with the rest of the watch.
The watch comes with the original stainless bracelet it came on and an additional brown leather/suede vintage strap which I bought from Swisstime watches for £40
The Watch itself has light scratches to the case and bracelet which I don’t think detract from the look on a vintage model. There are marks on the insert the biggest of which is near the pearl and has lifted the paint which you can see in the pictures.
There was a deep scratch on the crystal when I got the watch which I polished out as best I could but as it’s a plexi it has left a mark where the plexi got hot. I have tried to picture this from an angle that shows it as it’s not as noticeable when looking at it straight on but the mark runs from just below the 12 marker to about half way down the dial.
The bezel is fixed in place and does not rotate but is lined up perfectly.
This is by no means a mint looking vintage model that you would get from a TD so if you are OCD about your watches modern or vintage then this is not for you. If you are looking for something with an authentic aged look to it which has picked up some battle scars along the way then this is ideal.
