thanks. my bp case has already been modded to take a genuine crystal.

tc is the best sub. or is it? does anybody prefer the JF 16610 to the TC extreme?
I have both: TC is better... the JF needs some mods to be compared to the TC. But have on his side the 3135 instead of the 2824...
My opinion: TC without any mods is the killer sub OUT OF THE BOX. No need to add or change anything, just enjoy the watch. Any mod will add 0.1%.
The JF is a good base for frankening and could be good as a TC or better (spending much...)
16610!

Hey bro long time!! I wouldn’t mess around with the TC too much.. I have installed a gen crystal and an insert as you know and that’s it.. I have a gen 3135 being repaired now and I will put into my Hulk, I decided to leave the TC as it is, looks and feels gen as it gets

Hello! Well I love my ARed crystal, I know it’s not period correct but it’s correct if I had my 16610 in for a service in Rolex with a broken xtal plus I love the clarity of cyclops (I am a 6 digit guy all the way!)

What a dilemma to have. I built a franken 16660 and once you do the click spring mod the bezel turns really well. If I had that kind of budget and need to spend it entirely on a franken build I would probably go with a 6 digit build if you like that generation.

Just another thing to keep in mind: Sourcing TC hands for a franken build with an ETA is really hard nowadays. That, surprisingly, has been more difficult than finding gen parts.

I would also contact @Sub007 to see if he can source you parts. I've bought a lot of parts from him over the years and he's rock solid to work with. You'll probably save some money too.

I agree with you about the TC except I’d like a sh3135 in there, not for any logical reason.

I know you know my answer. I’m a 16610 lover. Heck I’m loving the 116610. You should think about that one larger case wise than a 16610. You might like it.

Your BP is nice. If it were me just stick with that one and start to collect slowly for a killer build. Good luck.

I don’t know if I like the 116610 as much as the 16610, I’ve owned a noob v5 116610, but I can’t make a decision based on that replica. I couldn’t afford to do a nice six digit franken anyways.

I love my BP but if I keep it I will want to add a genuine bezel ring in the least. And then if I do that I will want to add a genuine crystal, and then I might as well add an sh3135, but then I need Rolex hands, and a Rolex dial.

So then I come back to the same story, I want to do a Rolex five digit franken, all Rolex minus the case, bracelet, and yuki. I love the 16600 but is it worth using the flawed bp case as a base. I also love the 16610 and there are more options for genuine spec cases. So I must weigh my options and choose one

I have bought parts from sub007 before, he's great.

I already have TC v3 hands!! :)

Not trying to lean you in a 6 dig. but it is cheaper than you think. Locate a 116610 3135 on M2M and crystal is $250 hands are $300 dial is $500 and date wheel is $100. Insert is the issue. But if that is your deciding factor I will give you one for real cheap. So at the end of the day you will have a kick ass 3135 116610 for less than $1800.

Same when it comes too a nice 16610. You have most of the parts too make an amazing 16610. Your TC case I would sell for a V6 so your SEL fit will be great. Locate a yuki or sh and a real date wheel, real dial, real bezel. Truth be told you are going to want a real crystal ring and bezel. You want a real feeling click tight and snappy. Then go for a latter TC band and you will have a great watch.

OR get a older 2nd generation JF with rehuat. I will buff out the engraving and polish and shine it and press a real crystal in and bezel. While your yuki will fit with movement tabs the look is identical to a real rolex. The newer JF's have extremely small crown guards.

You could also alway look on M2M for a phong case. I have seen a few pop up.

No matter what we are here for you.
Thanks Rob.

phong case will put the build way outside my budget.

we will discuss more when you get back.

thanks again for always helping out

Hi mate, just a rationale from a serial franken flipper LOL

For me it would be the 16600 hands down for the following reasons:

1) Wrist presence: The 16600 with its tad higher position on the wrist, the protruded crystal edge, the HEV and the fact it has a date but no cyclops
2) Feel: The hefty feel of the 16600 on the wirst is really a personal thing but on my wrist (therefor personal) it just balances better than the slim 16610 design. Same with the 126600 I´m wearing now vs the 116610LV ...just feels better on my wrist
3) Cost: A 16600 will probably cost a bit less than a TC with all Gen parts in it. But that is if you franken a TC...but if you leave it as is than TC wins obviously
4) Unique: Everyone has a sub ....but almost no one has a Sea Dweller....so if you want to stand out from the crowd get an SD.

Wish you all the best of luck in your decision and here are some pics of my last franken...that I flipped LOL

Sold it for 1500 euro so $1850 (to give you indication of cost)
Specs: BP SD Case, Swiss ETA, TC 16600 Dial & 16610 V2 Hands (3D effect), TC DWO V4, Gen Bezel Assembly incl. Insert, Gen 285 crystal (Gen Xtal mod by Ado213), TC Tube, Gen 704 crown, TC Bracelet

thank you for your details input. We are very much on the same page. If you see in my first post I have the exact same bp 16600 that you have except mine has WSO crystal with crystal mod and rolex insert but not rolex bezel.

If I finish my bp 16600 I will add a serviced sh3135, rolex dial, rolex date, rolex hands, rolex bezel.

At the moment I am just costing things out and weighing my options

thanks for sharing your pictures and your valued opinion

I forget but does the BPSD have the correct engravings in between the lugs? I tend to wear straps more than the bracelet and lack of engravings was one of the biggest gripes about TC cases. Took forever for me to source a TC V-serial case from his earlier builds but it was worth it. Alternatively, I believe phong quoted me ~$200 to engrave a case.
